Ipu is a form that holds wisdom, knowledge and mana within. These two Ipu were created by Niki, the smaller one was carved out of the inner stone of the larger Ipu on the left! With these pieces, Niki demonstrates highly skilled carving techniques he acquired while studying under Chinese master carvers. He combined this with designed inspired by his own Tuhoe heritage and created a unique art work that is not only beautiful but also a true manifestation of cultural exchange and connection.
